This free tool stamps page numbers onto every page of a PDF, right in your browser. Pick where the numbers appear, how they're formatted, and which page to start counting from — nothing is uploaded to a server, so your document stays completely private.
Is this page numbering tool really free?
Yes. Adding page numbers to your PDF is completely free, with no limits on file size beyond the 100MB cap and no account required.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Every step — reading the PDF, stamping the numbers, and generating the download — happens locally in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
Can I choose where the page numbers appear?
Yes. Pick from six positions: top or bottom, and left, center, or right.
Can I skip numbering the cover page?
Yes. Use the "Start numbering from page" setting — set it to 2 (or any page) to leave earlier pages untouched while numbering continues correctly from there.
What page number formats are supported?
Three formats: a plain number like "3", a labeled number like "Page 3", or a fraction like "3 / 12" showing the total page count.
Will page numbers overlap my existing footer or header?
If your PDF already has content near the edges, choose a position and font size that avoids it, and check the live preview before downloading to confirm there's no overlap.
All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF is never uploaded to any server.
