What files do I get from the favicon generator?

A ZIP containing favicon.ico (with 16, 32, and 48px sizes built in), separate favicon-16x16.png and favicon-32x32.png files, an apple-touch-icon.png at 180×180, android-chrome icons at 192×192 and 512×512, a site.webmanifest, and an HTML snippet with all the tags you need to paste into your '<head>'.

Can I make a favicon from text or initials?

Yes. Switch to the Text tab, type up to three characters, and choose a text color, background color, and shape (rounded, square, or circle). The font size automatically fits your initials.

Can I use an emoji as my favicon?

Yes. Switch to the Emoji tab, paste any emoji or pick one from the quick list, and the tool renders it large and centered across every favicon size.

Do I still need a .ico file in 2026 or are PNGs enough?

Modern browsers happily use PNG favicons, but favicon.ico remains the most universally recognized filename — some browsers, RSS readers, and legacy tools still look for it by default at the site root. This generator gives you both, so you're covered either way.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Everything — cropping, rendering every size, building the .ico file, and packaging the ZIP — happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device.

What sizes does my site actually need and why?

16×16 and 32×32 cover browser tabs and bookmarks, 180×180 is for Apple touch icons on iOS home screens, and 192×192 plus 512×512 are used by Android and PWA manifests for home-screen icons and splash screens. Shipping all of them avoids blurry or missing icons on any device.
