What image formats can I upload?

You can upload PNG, JPG, or WEBP images up to 50MB. The tool automatically corrects the orientation of photos taken on phones before you crop them.

Will my photo be uploaded to a server?

No. Circle Crop runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your photo is never sent anywhere — it stays on your device the whole time.

Can I crop the exact same spot for a small and large avatar?

Yes. The circular crop you position is used for every output size, so your 256px and 512px avatars (and the original resolution) are always framed identically.

Why does my circular avatar show a white box on some sites?

That happens when a site expects transparency but received a flattened JPG. Choose the PNG output option for a transparent background so the circle blends into any page — use JPG only when you specifically want a solid background color.

Can I add a border around my circular photo?

Yes. Turn on the border option and choose any width and color to add a clean ring around your cropped avatar, similar to profile picture borders on social apps.

What size should a profile picture be for platforms like X, Discord, or LinkedIn?

Most platforms display avatars around 128-400px, but accept larger uploads and scale them down. 512px is a safe, sharp size for X, Discord, LinkedIn, and most other sites; use 256px if you want a smaller file.
