Will adding a border reduce my image quality?
No. Your original photo pixels are copied into the output untouched — only new border pixels are added around them, so there is no quality loss or recompression of your photo.

How do I make my photo square for Instagram?
Switch the border style to "Square It Up". The tool automatically pads only the shorter side of your photo with an even border on both edges, turning it into a perfect 1:1 square without cropping or stretching anything.
What's the difference between pixel and percentage width?
Pixel width adds the same fixed number of pixels to every photo. Percentage width is based on each photo's shorter side, so a batch of differently sized photos ends up with borders that look visually consistent instead of some being much thicker than others.
Why did my file switch to PNG?
JPEG images cannot store transparency. If you enable a transparent border, the tool automatically switches the output format to PNG so the transparent area is preserved instead of being filled in with black or white.
