How much smaller will my GIF get?
It depends on your original file and the settings you choose. Lowering the width, frame rate, and color count all reduce file size, sometimes by 50% or more for GIFs with a lot of color or motion.
Will optimizing reduce the quality of my GIF?
GIF is already a limited-color format, and lowering the color count, frame rate, or size will make those trade-offs more visible. Start with a small reduction and compare the preview before committing to more aggressive settings.
What does the compression level slider do?
It controls how strongly the palette dithering pattern is applied during encoding. Higher levels can shrink the file a bit further but may introduce more visible dot patterns in smooth color areas.
Why did my GIF get bigger instead of smaller?
GIF optimization re-encodes the entire animation with a fresh color palette, and if your original was already small or heavily compressed, that re-encoding can sometimes produce a slightly larger file.
